Consulting and Adult, Adolescent and Couples Psychotherapy

Few Words from Dr. Elia

Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. I'd like to share a bit about my experience as a psychologist. To start out, I

am often inspired by the courage, humility, and honesty of my clients. I find myself admiring their capacity to open up, be

vulnerable, understand themselves in new ways, and create change in their lives. I love what I do and I feel it is my honor to

walk with my clients through their journey of self-discovery. In fact, it is one of the most valuable gifts I’ve been given.

Because it is a true privilege to be part of a client’s therapeutic process, I do my best to carry out my role in a sensitive, ethical,

professional, and responsible manner.  My philosophy is to treat each client individually and consider their unique needs and

strengths when determining how to help them. I believe in working collaboratively with clients to identify areas of concern and

    goals for treatment.

While much of my training is in cognitive-behavioral therapy, which is skills oriented and focuses on the here and now,

additionally, I consider one's early experiences in order to better understand current feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. My

approach is interactive and integrates active listening with feedback and recommendations.

I am a firm believer of the saying, “When there is a will, there is a way.” My hope is that each of us can be mindful of our unique

worth and potential. Thus, we can maintain an image of the person we would like to be and the kind of life we would like to

have. This image can guide us through the path of happiness and fulfillment. This path may require us to endure some pain, to

take on new perspectives, and to make changes in our lives. We have to trust that the process is worthwhile and that we will

    reach our vision.

May you find your path to all the wonderful things in life that you desire and deserve,

    Carla Elia
